Just a short distance away, the Palace of Westminster, with its towering clock and the unmistakable chime of Big Ben, stands as a symbol of the United Kingdom.

In this final stretch of your morning walk, we suggest crossing one of the city's most important streets: Whitehall. You are in one of London’s most iconic squares. Inaugurated in 1844, it features Nelson’s Column as its centerpiece, commemorating Britain’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. If you have time to spare, here you can visit the famous National Gallery.

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge

Completed in 1894, Tower Bridge is London’s most iconic bridge. With its Victorian structure and Gothic-style towers, it combines elegance and functionality. It is famous for its raising mechanism, which allows ships to pass along the Thames. Until 1976, it used steam power to operate the bascules.

You are in one of the best areas in town for a walk along the river, at the end of this leg, you’ll cross the iconic bridge and reach the Tower of London.

This free itinerary only offers a glimpse of this area, which we believe is unmissable. However, in some of our personalized itineraries, you’ll also find sections of South Bank with more fascinating facts and historical landmarks.

3.45 PM

Towards
St Paul's Cathedral

You’ll finally hop on a double-decker, the iconic London buses. Route 15 is one of the most scenic, connecting several landmarks along the way. In our personalized itineraries, you might find other routes that pass by iconic spots, offering an alternative to the sightseeing bus tours.

Head towards the heart of the City, catch the number 15 bus towards Charing Cross and get off at St Paul’s Cathedral.

This is the stop where you can catch number 15.

St Paul's Cathedral

St Paul’s Cathedral, a masterpiece by architect Christopher Wren, was completed in 1710 after The Great Fire of London. Famous for its imposing dome, one of the largest in the world, it hosted historic events like the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

In addition to the cathedral, this area features the London Stock Exchange and One New Change, a shopping center with a terrace that affords a stunning view of the dome and the city’s skyline.

4.45 PM

Towards
Covent Garden

Take the same bus again, number 15 towards Charing Cross, from the same stop where you got off earlier. Ride for about ten minutes, then get off at Savoy Street.

We suggest a quick visit to The Savoy hotel. While it’s not a tourist attraction, you can take a few minutes to admire its luxurious interiors (though it’s best to avoid this stop if you’re with a large group or children). From here, cross Strand, and you’ll be just a short walk away from Covent Garden.
